Four Men and a Camel
Unrest in Calimport
The streets of Calimport are filled with disorder and rumors abound. The emperor’s navy left on a campaign to reclaim their spice colony and trade route in the Nelanther Isles, recently lost in a collective uprising among workers of neighboring islands. A day after the last ship left Calimport, a fleet of pirates known as the Bloodwater Brigade blockaded the city. The band of pirates commandeered the trade ships which were ready to set sail and took them back to their base of operations across the Shining Sea near Refuge Bay.
Meanwhile, the pasha Vera el Kuzmana, niece of the emperor, suddenly fell ill and died. Word has just begun to spread that her cause of death was poisoning. No one is sure who could be responsible, but the Calimites are growing restless and enraged with each additional day their city remains under blockade and their emperor hides in his palace, unwilling to confront his subjects. The suspected murder of the pasha caused the emperor to install a sort of martial law in the city, consisting of regular patrols of the royal guard and a curfew after sunset, which has only served to further increase the frustration of the citizens.
